Thankful
There are so many reasons to be thankful each and every day, but as I was prepping the turkey this Thanksgiving Day, I was reflecting on all that I am so grateful for. Here are a few things in random order:
- Turkey! The smell that will be filling my home shortly, all the trimmings, homemade turkey soup, sandwiches and leftovers to enjoy all week and store in the freezer!
- The immense wealth we have enjoyed. Compared to my friends and neighbours, we have an average income; we are comfortable and enjoy some perks but compared to the rest of the world and even those who lived here 100 years ago, we are extremely wealthy.
- I am grateful for that perspective as we head into a recession and possibly a depression. We North Americans have enjoyed our wealth at the expense of third world nations and have no idea of the true value of all we consume. This is bound to come to an end.
- That said, I am grateful for the family vacation we are taking to Florida (no, not Disney world) next month and the airmiles that make it possible.
- I am grateful for a husband who loves me, has brought stability to my life, been an excellent provider, generous giver and lover of Jesus.
- I'm thankful for the surprise birthday party my husband threw for me Friday and all the amazing friends who came. This is the third surprise party he has given me and every time I have been surprised. Though I figured this one out while on the "errand" he sent me on the get me out of the house.
- My children. They truly are blessings and bring me so much joy.
- The Gospel. I am in desperate need of a Saviour, as parenting and marriage reveals so much sin in me.
- I am grateful to live in a country like Canada and enjoy all the freedoms we do.
- All the prayers that have been answered and even in my unbelief, the ways the Lord has worked to grow my faith.

Happy Thanksgiving Day!!
